ALL ABOUT HAVING FUN

Fun times at Montgomery Middle School

SAN DIEGO –Smiles, fun and more smiles.

Club Tijuana’s Xolos Academy FC continues to bring a good time while learning the essentials to becoming a great soccer player to the community. Xolos Academy FC coaches from the Chula Vista, Calif. chapter visited Montgomery Middle School Tuesday June 2.

Coaches took about 100 kids from the middle school through a series of tactical and technical skills. The event also included some fun-provoking games that emphasized the importance of staying active. The clinic included skills and coaching techniques used in the Xolos Academy FC system and in Club Tijuana’s Fuerzas Basicas teams in Tijuana.

Rafael Palacios, one of the academy coaches in Chula Vista, said he enjoyed watching the young athletes smiling and having a good time while learning about soccer.

“There is nothing better than to see a kid leave with a smile after a clinic,” Palacios said. “That is one of the reasons why I do this. We do it for the kids so that they have an avenue to practice sports and live an active lifestyle.”

Coach Raul Ortiz, Matt Emmert and academy goalkeepers coach Antonio Perez also took part in the clinic.

Some of the participants even got a chance at winning some Club Tijuana gear. Coaches set up a penalty kick challenge. Those who scored got a prize, a Xoloitzcuintles shirt.
